Hi Friends,
It’s me again.
And I’m writing in the hope that this message finds you all fine and
in good health…and with the same email address.
The 8 Track Shack has been humming recently, with artists including
Sean MacMahon, Jimmy Dowling, John Flanagan and even me. Yep I’ve made
a start on my new album, which I feel is quite different to any of my
previous releases…but maybe not that different…it’s still me. This
album is more vocal based, rather than guitar driven. In fact I’ve
written more than half of it on piano. Although a solo album with
minimal layers, it will feature a couple of guests. I’ll keep you
posted on release dates, etc.
These past few months have seen me lying low on the live front,
because I wanted to put energy into recording, but as luck would have
it, I’ve ended up playing some pretty varied live shows too.
Chris Altmann pulled together a bunch of riff raff including me to
form the Que Paso Revue to rock Boogie Festival. This super charged
model of his already mighty band played to a Saturday night crowd of
boogie enthusiasts and it was one hell of a party!

This is the best festival! I suggest if you’re one who enjoys a big
party with great music of all types (this year’s line up featured
varied artists from Tony Joe White to Barbarian!) you’d dig spending
your weekend at Boogie!
Chris has now left the country to live in
Canada so it was
quite a send off for him, and a little sad for the rest of us here
who’ll miss him. Adios Amigo! See you in the strum!
Another recent weekend comes to mind too. Brod and I travelled to
Adelaide to play a party
for a local radio identity. Standing at the airport waiting for our
ride to the gig, we notice an old Rolls Royce purr up to the curb. Hmm
nice wheels, Broddy and I nod to each other, not realising that this
was in fact our ride. We are chaperoned to the gig by a couple of old
geezers straight out of that TV show Minder. Brilliant!
The party is full of smiles and laughs including a guy describing some
combustible substance of his own harvest with the enthusiasm and
precision of a judge on one of those cooking shows! Then it was back
into the Rolls and off to wine and dine.
Oh and while in SA I’d like to introduce to you the fine folk at
Stobie sounds. The main man there is Jacob and he’s doing some cool
stuff with his little label. Check it out at

Last week I swung by Head
Gap Studios and played guitar on a song from the forthcoming album by
Matt Sonic and the High Times. It was cool fun laying down some
Hooker-inspired thud and jangle to the tune that already had it’s own
thing going on. Thanks Matt
There are a few shows coming up - you may like to check my gigs page
